Peace and
Safety in the Christian Home (PASCH),
a newly formed
evangelical
network invites session and paper proposals for a conference
to discuss
strategies for creating peace and safety in the Christian
home, Christian
responses to wife abuse and other forms of domestic
violence.
Entitled Beyond Abuse, this conference will seek to examine
the prevalence
and severity of abuse in Christian families across the
United States
and beyond, and consider healing and therapeutic responses
to violence.
Although a wide range of session and paper topics are
encouraged,
we especially solicit those concerned with the following:
Strategies
for safety in the faith community;
Theological
reflections on the healing journey of abuse victims;
Liturgy and
resources for individuals and congregations;
Therapeutic
strategies for facilitating hope and healing for victims;
Narratives
of the pain and despair of victims;
Biblical mandate
for peace and safety in the home;
Bridge building
between secular and sacred intervention strategies;
Ideas for
encouraging peaceful resolution to conflict in the family;
Prevalence
and severity of abuse in religious families;
Pastoral leadership
in understanding and addressing power, control and abuse;
Faith-based
batterers' intervention programs;
Medical and
legal assistance for victims;
Pastoral counselling
and the abuse victim.
