Praying for the Persecuted Church
by
Tamra Keller

Viet Nam—April, 2004:  More than 250 Christians killed while publicly praying for religious freedom.

Indonesia—April, 2004: 38 Christians killed, many others critically injured or maimed, 847 homes burned down, and 10,000 become refugees after being attacked by Muslim extremists.

Pakistan—May, 2004: Pastor severely beaten, subjected to electric shocks, stabbed through the tongue, and taunted with death threats for refusing to convert to Islam.
China—May, 2004: 28-year-old China House Church Leader (pastor) beaten to death while in the custody of Chinese Public Security Bureau officers.

Uzbekistan—May, 2004: Female Protestant students’ residences searched, Christian literature confiscated, religious activities monitored; students told “it would be better for you to bne prostitutes than to read those dreadful books” (referring to Christian literature).
Eritrea—June, 2004: Three pastors and a popular Christian singer jailed , escalating a government crackdown against the country’s evangelical Christians.

Serbia—June, 2004: Radical Muslims continue attack on Christian Serbs in Kosovo, destroying 30 more churches, killing hundreds of Christians, and torching homes in a three-week period.

These are a FEW examples of the persecution of Christians worldwide.  Pray that these followers of Jesus remain ever faithful to the Savior even unto death.  Pray for their persecutors—that they will come to know the Lord as Christ.
